Kawartha Downs help, limits and crew

By phone, text or chat, ConnexOntario is confidential, free of charge and reachable at any time. Further down, the Out to the Downs crew explains who keeps this guide and how each fact gets checked.

Who to call, text or chat

  • ConnexOntario is the province's help line for gambling, free, confidential and open 24 hours. Ring 1-866-531-2600, chat online at connexontario.ca, or send a text reading CONNEX to 247247.
  • OLG's My PlayBreak shuts you out of every casino in Ontario for a term you pick: 3 months, 6 months, or a span of 1 to 5 years, and it cannot be shortened after it begins. Enrolment works three ways: the OLG Support Centre (1-800-387-0098), the floor staff, or a PlaySmart Centre.
  • The Virtual PlaySmart Centre, part of OLG's playsmart.ca, answers at 1-833-888-2306 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.
  • BetGuard, from iGaming Ontario at betguard.ca, closes every regulated Ontario online site to you, OLG.ca included. You choose 1 year, 5 years, 6 months or a length of your own, though casinos you walk into are not covered.

Before you leave the driveway

As general advice, start here: every slot carries a built-in house edge, meaning over time the machines collect more than they return. Over many evenings, losing is the expected result. Before you pull out of the driveway, decide how much you will spend and when you will leave for home. Those hold up better than ones picked at the machine. The drive home counts too, so leave it room in the plan: a clear head and money left for the rest of the week.

The crew behind the guide

  • Checked October 11, 2026
  • Ontario time
  • Straight-line distances, town points © OpenStreetMap contributors
  • Drawings generated from real photos of the track

Out to the Downs is written and signed by the Out to the Downs crew. That is a collective name, with no personal byline and no named author.

Every fact here was checked on October 11, 2026. The sources were the Kawartha Downs pages, Great Canadian's Shorelines page and code of conduct, OLG, the AGCO and iGaming Ontario. The City of Peterborough's transit page and OpenStreetMap filled in the rest. Distances run in a straight line from the track to a town's OpenStreetMap point, so a road is always longer. No driving time is ever guessed, and times are Ontario time.

A quick word on the drawings you will spot around this guide. There are six, all coloured-pencil drawings produced by an image generator. Five were drawn from real photographs of Kawartha Downs, each with its own hour and light. They show the lit canopy over the slots entrance, the track and its white rail, the Grandstand Dining Room, the roadside sign and the bar in The Loft. The sixth, a rail fence beside a country road, is not a real spot.

There are no accounts and no forms on this site. Your light or dark choice is the only thing it keeps, and only for the open tab.
